The Tarkine is our take on the VOX V828 Tonebender.

The Tarkine is one of the worlds last prehistoric rain forests. It's teaming with fauna and flora that is not seen anywhere else on this planet. The Tarkine is largest temperate rain forest in Australia and second largest in the world. The 477,000 hectares of uninterrupted wilderness include myrtle, leatherwood and pine trees that are living links to Gondwanaland. It's wild, it's untamed, it's raw and it's unique which we think is the perfect namesake for this fuzz.

The Van Diemens' Tarkine is a fuzz based on the classic 2 transistor VOX V828 Tonebender. This version of the Tonebender should not be confused with the MK1.5 as it uses a lower resistance volume pot and it's coupling caps are much smaller values than what's standard in a Coloursound Tonebender. It is in fact quite a different circuit. It is a sharper, brighter, sizzling fuzz that will really cut through the mix. The components are all hand picked for optimum quality and performance and are fitted point to point to a eyelet board assembled in house.

The Tarkine features a beautiful, loud and aggressive pair of Brimar 60's transistors. These will be a mix of either an AC113s, AC115s or ASY84s in Q1 and an ASY83s in Q2. (these may vary from build to build depending on availability but mostly on SOUND). This fuzz will really hit the front of your amp hard and stand out in the mix. It's also very quiet, as are all of my fuzz, which is something I work very hard at.

Added to those are Wima, Erie, Philips, Mullard Tropical Fish, Mullard Mustard, Ducon and other high end vintage capacitors and vintage Piher, Jackson and/ or Allen Bradley resistors, The mechanicals are modern, but are the highest quality available today including Dalywell footwitches, Cliff jacks and Alpha potentiometers.

This pedal is available only in hammered Green, depicting the beautiful rain forests it was named after. This finish can be in either traditional hammer paint, or powdercoat. Be aware that the traditional hammer paint can take quite a while to cure depending on the weather and time of year.  We will also offer this pedal in a Deep Blue Hammered powdercoat. This of course will expediate the build process. For colour references, please see the Dasy Fuzz.

You may also request on/off battery switches, a bias control and tone switching options.

Prices start from US$325.00
